Thanksgiving Day is a typical American holiday. It’s a special time during which people gather together to thank one another and eat a traditional meal. There is no such a person who doesn’t know a tradition of eating turkeys or pumpkin pies. It’s also a day in which national parades and firework displays take place. Giant balloons are also launched.
Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November. It’s celebrated to commemorate some past events which took place in 1621. After some difficulties, which first Pilgrims who arrived in the New World experienced, they had some plentiful harvest in fall. And that was why they wanted to thank both God and Indians who showed them how to cultivate the soil. The custom of an annually celebrated thanksgiving was continued through the years till today.
We know that there are plenty of ways of celebrating Thanksgiving Day. Some companies even practice sending Corporate Thanksgiving cards to show their gratitude toward their business associates. It’s not only on Thanksgiving Day that bosses send such type of wishes. They also send some Christmas interactive cards and other cards for unusual occasions.
It is said that business cards are very original way of expressing our thankfulness to all the customers and people who work in a given company. When the first Thanksgiving Day was celebrated in 1621 a smoke signal was used as a special type of card. And since then the tradition of sending Thanksgiving cards is continued. But in 21st century this process has all changed. Now we send those electronic cards, which are a convenient, easy and quick way of transmitting your wishes.
Talking about Thanksgiving cards we should say about symbols which are represented on them. Fisrt of all, there is a legendary turkey, which derives its name from the sound it makes. It’s a traditional dish served in every house. There is also the corn. It appears in some varieties of colours. It’s believed that the Native Americans had been growing corn a long time before the pilgrims’ arrival and then learnt them how to cultivate it. Thanksgiving table is also emblazoned with the pumpkin pie and a lot of beans and cranberry.
